Fractional CFO – Towson, MD

CFS is partnering with a well-established real estate investment and property management organization to identify a Fractional CFO. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance leader seeking a meaningful, long-term consulting engagement with a collaborative and highly respected ownership group.

Known for its strong industry relationships and entrepreneurial approach, the company is seeking a trusted financial advisor to support key business initiatives, lending activities, portfolio analysis, and investment decision-making. The ideal candidate will serve as a strategic partner to leadership while leveraging the support of an experienced accounting team to execute the organization’s financial objectives.

This Fractional CFO role is expected to average approximately 20-30 hours per week, with flexibility to adjust based on business needs and ongoing projects. The position offers a blend of high-level financial leadership, investment analysis, and operational support within a stable and growing organization.

Responsibilities of the Fractional CFO:

• Serve as a strategic finance partner to ownership and executive leadership
• Manage and strengthen banking, lending, and external financial relationships
• Lead financing, refinancing, and underwriting activities across a real estate portfolio
• Perform hold-versus-sell analyses and provide recommendations that support investment objectives
• Develop financial models, cash flow forecasts, projections, and long-range planning analyses
• Evaluate potential investment opportunities and support capital allocation decisions
• Oversee portfolio and corporate budgeting processes
• Review financial performance and provide actionable insights to leadership
• Assist with business planning, special projects, and strategic initiatives
• Partner with the accounting team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
• Utilize Yardi and other financial systems to support reporting and analysis

Qualifications for the Fractional CFO:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; advanced degree and/or CPA are welcome but not required
• 5+ years’ experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, Director of Finance, or similar senior finance leadership role
  • Strong background in real estate, property management, investments, private equity, development, or asset management environments a plus, but not required
  • Knowledge in underwriting, financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis a plus
  • Experience negotiating and managing commercial lending relationships a plus
• Ability to translate complex financial data into meaningful business recommendations
• Experience with Yardi or similar software a plus, but not required
