Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Salt Lake City seeks a FRACAS Specialist Systems Engineer to evaluate and improve the reliability of DoD communications systems. You will lead FRACAS activities, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions across multiple programs.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree with several years of relevant experience (or an advanced degree) and offers exposure to complex electronic systems, cross-functional collaboration, and mission-critical work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Direct experience supporting a FRACAS program is desired.
• Familiarity with FRACAS software or databases and a working knowledge of Reliability Analysis and Failure Mode / Fault Tree Analysis is desired.
• Understanding engineering architecture and design concepts along with basic understanding of engineering practices and procedures
• Experience troubleshooting complex electronic systems including data link and mechanical systems is desired
• Prepares and generates detailed repair reports for MRO and Warranty return units, documenting findings, root cause analysis, corrective actions taken, and disposition recommendations
• Presentation and communication skills (verbal/written/visual)
• Problem solving skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines
• Understanding in coordination of project(s) and efforts of technical support personnel
• A strong background in data mining using Business Objects and SQL is a plus
• Applicants with experience performing Reliability and FRACAS specific analysis and activities is a plus
• Applicants must be self-motivated and able to manage and complete their projects within budget and schedule restraints

Responsibilities

• FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System) root cause analysis and recommendations for design improvements
• Directs investigations and determines root cause of failure on design, production and field failures
• Makes recommendations to the FRB
• Determines resolution of failures and corrective actions in FRACAS program
• Coordinates efforts with Engineering, Manufacturing, Programs, Material Control, and Quality
• Works in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment and manages multiple programs
• Reviews fault isolation and troubleshooting procedures and performs functional testing
• Maintains FRACAS database, monitors status, tracks investigations, and generates reports
• Prepares and generates detailed repair reports for MRO and Warranty units
• Develops, delivers, and presents technical data to management and customers
• Performs other duties as assigned
