Job summary

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is hiring Firmware Engineers to support US military and international customers, delivering complex firmware for FPGAs, SOCs, and CPLDs. You will join an IPT working across design, lab integration, and qualification activities.

This is an onsite role in Fort Wayne, Indiana, offering collaboration with system engineers, hardware teams, and suppliers, with opportunities to advance in aerospace firmware.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and less than 2 years of related experience.
• Experience with C/C++, HLS, or UVM.
• Familiarity with programmable logic development tools is preferred.
• Linux scripting experience with bash, make, Tcl, and Python.

Responsibilities

• Generate firmware requirements based on system architecture.
• Create firmware documentation describing firmware architecture.
• Design HDL-based digital circuits that are structured and readable.
• Build test benches to verify HDL-based designs.
• Generate constraints for target devices and create automation scripts.

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is hiring Firmware Engineers to support programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats. As a Firmware Engineer, you will be a member of an Integrated Program Team (IPT)) creating complex firmware solutions implemented in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), System on Chip (SOC), and Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLDs). Development activities may also include laboratory integration, test and evaluation, fault isolation of prototype hardware, and system qualification testing support.

What You Will Do

• Generate firmware requirements based on the system architecture
• Generate firmware documentation that describes the firmware architecture
• Design HDL based digital circuits that are structured and readable
• Build test benches to verify/test the HDL based design
• Generate constraints for target device
• Create scripts to automate build, integration, and test activities
• Verify target device functionality in laboratory environment

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
• Experience with C/C++, HLS, or UVM
• Experience with programmable logic development tools (e.g. ISE, Vivado, Quartus II, Libero, Synplify)
• Linux scripting experience (bash shells, make files, Tcl, Python)

Qualifications We Prefer

• Curriculum geared towards embedded systems
• Previous co-op/internship/projects experience implementing and verifying firmware
• Experience with source control (e.g. GIT, SVN, ClearCase)
