Job summary

Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, is seeking a hardware engineer to design, analyze, and lay out digital electronic modules and CCAs for demanding military and aerospace applications. You will work with processors, FPGAs, memory, and interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART to meet stringent SWaP and environmental requirements.

You will capture schematics, perform board layout, drive cross‑functional reviews, and address root causes with corrective actions to ensure on‑time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree with 3+ years experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of digital electronic modules and CCAs.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout experience.

What YOU Will Do:
  • You will design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of digital electronic modules and/or circuit card assemblies (CCAs)
  • You will be doing circuit card design including hardware designs with processors, FPGAs, memory, and industry interfaces, such as PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART
  • You will do requirement capture management and verification for small to medium electronic packaging circuit cards
  • You will prepare and present project technical information to peers and internal/external customers
  • You will identify and addresses project & factory problems (Root Cause) and recommends resolutions (Corrective Actions) to ensure the successful completion and On-Time Delivery
  • You will conduct schematic Capture and Printer Wiring Board layout design experience
  • You will facilitate project tasks between cross-functional integrated product teams to ensure alignment with overall project objectives and team collaboration

  • Experience as a technical lead and/or project lead of a team in the design, test, analysis, integration, qualification, and documentation of hardware of high complexity
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Experience using Mentor Graphics Design Creation (Siemens EDA) tools: DxDesigner, xDX Designer VX OR Equivalent
  • Experience in the design of electronic products and tooling used in applications requiring high reliability and extended life
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Communications design and simulation experience with tools such as Matlab and Simulink
  • Understanding of Design to Cost (DTC+), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT)
  • Familiarity with bid, proposal and earned value methods
  • DO-160 or MIL-STD-810/MIL-STD-461 qualification
  • Lighting protection circuits and testing
  • FPGA development
  • Experience in proposal and cost estimation support of Hardware pursuits
  • Experience in design support for Special Test Equipment and tooling required for IV&V and production efforts
