Job summary

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) seeks an FPGA Engineer to design, develop, and implement firmware for high-speed FPGAs and SoCs. You will translate requirements into hardware solutions using VHDL, Verilog, and High-Level Synthesis, perform simulations, testing, and documentation.

The role emphasizes embedded platforms and real-time signal processing in a collaborative research setting, with DoW-sponsored projects and potential for clearance. Strong coding and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Graduation date no later than Dec 2026.
  • Familiar with software development concepts, source control, agile.
  • Experience developing on embedded platforms and/or FPGAs.
  • Experience with C, C++, and Python.
  • Experience using Git or another distributed version control system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a research environment with unknowns and constraints, and obtain Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop FPGA solutions using HDL (VHDL/Verilog) and High-Level Synthesis.
  • Support program teams to achieve project milestones.
  • Support testbench development, simulation, and integration of system components.
  • Contribute to technical reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with team on architecture, design, software/VHDL development and testing.
