Job summary

Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta seeks an FPGA Engineer to design and implement complex firmware for high-density FPGAs and SoCs. You will work on real-time DSP, interfaces, and system security, using Verilog/VHDL and HDL tools.

The role requires embedded experience, software familiarity, and the ability to collaborate within a research team. Candidates must be able to obtain a security clearance and be a U.S. citizen.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Enrollment in an accredited degree program is considered.
  • Graduation date no later than Dec 2026.
  • Familiar with source control, agile development, and coding practices.
  • Experience on embedded platforms and/or FPGAs.
  • Experience with C, C++, and Python.
  • Experience using Git or another distributed version control system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • U.S. Citizenship required to obtain/maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop FPGA solutions using VHDL/Verilog and High-Level Synthesis.
  • Support program teams to achieve project milestones.
  • Assist testbench development, simulation, and integration of components.
  • Support equipment validation in a laboratory setting.
  • Contribute to technical reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate on system architecture and design, software/VHDL development and testing.
  • Develop AI/ML methods for controlling and optimizing performance of communications/sensing systems.
  • Document findings and communicate implications and value.
