Job description

League One Volleyball (LOVB ) is reimagining women's sports. Launched in 2019, our company is a mission-led sports performance, training and media enterprise that will change the game of volleyball in the USA and empower new generations of female athletes.

It is a groundbreaking time for volleyball in the US with our historic triple Olympic Gold medals in Women's Indoor, Beach and Sitting Volleyball. Volleyball is already the #1 most played girls' youth sport. There are 38M current and former players today. Of major sports, it's the only one that is women-first (~90% of players are female). But the volleyball market has been almost entirely missed by traditional sports investors, brands, and media.

LOVB is capturing this opportunity by creating a strong club business, and from that built-in audience and fandom, is creating the best Pro League in the world and a digital ecosystem that will connect all aspects of LOVB. This community-up approach will drive participation and fandom, while enabling greater empowerment for girls and young women living this amazing sport. In this role, you will join a mission-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves team of innovators and builders who have come together to change the paradigm of professional volleyball and women’s sports.

The Role:

LOVB is seeking a hands-on FP&A Manager to support its Pro League as the team builds on the momentum of its inaugural season and launches into its sophomore season. Reporting to the Head of Finance for Pro, this role will maintain departmental budgets, analyze results, and provide insights to support decision-making. You will collaborate with the broader FP&A team to ensure cohesion and consistency in financial reporting across LOVB’s business units. You will partner with key stakeholders to address strategic decisions and drive the Professional League’s sustainability and success.

The ideal candidate is a curious, analytical, and data-driven thinker, who excels at tackling open-ended questions with a “roll-up your sleeves” mentality. You can balance both rigor and flexibility in building models and in implementing and improving processes. This role will initially have no direct reports but will have the opportunity to add an analyst within 12 months.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting cycles in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Actively monitor and track performance against budget, producing concise monthly reporting summaries, trend analyses, and insights for leadership.
  • Collaborate with LOVB Inc and LOVB Clubs FP&A teams to integrate Pro budget into a consolidated model and to identify intercompany transactions.
  • Own and enhance long-range planning model, rolling results and updating assumptions as the business evolves.
  • Support Head of Finance in scenario modeling and ad hoc financial analyses.
  • Clearly communicate complex financial information through presentations and written communication to leadership.
  • Build trusted and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the Pro league and the broader LOVB business.
  • Manage and maintain budget in NetSuite or similar Business Intelligence (BI) systems.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Advanced Excel skills, including modeling and data analysis capabilities with proven success in building financial models and identifying insights, patterns, and recommendations.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ability to interpret and analyze financial statements.
  • Strong time management skills to prioritize and complete multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Self-starter mindset with a collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Shares company values and vision and is excited by the challenge of working in a dynamic start-up environment.
  • NetSuite Planning and Budgeting and other BI reporting experience preferred.
  • CRM- and data-analytics experience is a plus.
Education and Experience:
  • 5+ years in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, or FP&A.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as the Google Suite of products.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements (Remote):
  • Flexibility to travel as needed based on business needs.
  • Ability to operate a computer and use a keyboard, mouse, and video conferencing tools.
  • Ability to clearly communicate via video, phone, and written channels.
  • Occasional travel may be required for site visits and events.
Location:

Remote (U.S.- based) with occasional travel for site visits and business-related events. Preference will be given to candidates in a Pro city: Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Madison, Omaha or Salt Lake.

The pay range listed reflects the pay range for this position. The annual base salary for this role is $115,000-125,000 annually, and our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level, among other things.
