FP&A Manager, Investment Management
The Group

Morningstar Wealth is a core part of the broader Morningstar group, empowering investor success by delivering worldclass investment products and technology solutions to advisors, individuals, and the businesses who serve them. As a global team, we bring together data, research, analytics, and investment capabilities to help clients achieve better outcomes.

The Role

Morningstar Wealth's FP&A team is seeking an FP&A Manager to serve as the finance lead for the US Investment Management business. This role sits at the center of strategic and financial decisionmaking and is responsible for owning the credibility, clarity, and consistency of financial performance narratives provided to senior leadership. It would be an exciting opportunity for a current Senior FP&A Analyst to rise to a new role.

This is not a reportingonly role. The FP&A Manager is expected to independently own variance explanations, challenge assumptions, and ensure leadership receives accurate, wellvalidated, and decisionuseful insights. The role reports to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and requires four days a week in our Chicago office.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Ownership & Planning
  • Own the endtoend financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes for the US Investment Management business
  • Lead budget, forecast, and longrange planning in close partnership with business leaders, ensuring assumptions are well understood, clearly articulated, and appropriately challenged
  • Act as the primary finance partner for US Investment Management leaders, providing guidance on tradeoffs, risks, and financial implications
Performance Management, Variance Analysis & Storytelling
  • Own monthly and quarterly performance reviews, producing credible, executiveready variance explanations that clearly identify primary drivers, separate signal from noise, and articulate implications
  • Independently validate assumptions and push back on weak or unsupported explanations before outputs reach senior leadership
  • Ensure consistent variance taxonomy (e.g., runrate vs onetime, volume/price/mix/timing) and high analytical standards across deliverables
Business Partnership & Judgment
  • Develop a deep understanding of Investment Management business operations, revenue models, pricing mechanics, and cost drivers
  • Translate complex financial results into clear, concise narratives that inform leadership decisions
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, balancing partnership with appropriate challenge
Process Improvement & Team Leverage
  • Improve FP&A processes, templates, and controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Act as a quality gate for FP&A outputs, reducing rework and ensuring consistency across geographies
  • Embed AI-enabled tools and repeatable workflows where appropriate to improve speed, consistency, and insight generation across planning and reporting processes
  • Partner with global FP&A colleagues to raise standards of analysis and communication
  • Identify practical opportunities to use AI and automation to streamline forecasting, variance analysis, reporting, and recurring FP&A workflows while maintaining strong controls and validation standards
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or related roles
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated experience owning financial performance narratives and presenting to senior leadership
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect financial outcomes to operational drivers
  • Proven ability to challenge assumptions constructively and protect the credibility of finance outputs
  • Experience in asset management, wealth management, or financial services preferred
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Comfortable exploring and applying AI-enabled capabilities in an FP&A context, including automation, scenario analysis, narrative generation, and analytical quality checks
