Job summary

The Finance Intern at South Jersey Industries will participate in an 11-week summer program, supporting the Financial Planning & Analysis team with financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, business analysis, and process improvement activities.

This role provides hands-on exposure to corporate finance and an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a professional business environment while developing analytical, communication, and technical skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or related field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with formulas, pivot tables, charts, or financial modeling preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in finance or data analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Assist with preparing monthly forecasts, the annual budget, and long-term projections.
• Gather, validate, and analyze financial and operational data from multiple sources.
• Build and maintain financial models and management reporting materials.
• Perform ad hoc analyses to support data-driven decisions.
• Partner with FP&A and business stakeholders to explain performance drivers.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and automate where possible.
• Prepare summaries, charts, and presentations for management review.
