Job summary

Pinnacle MEP is seeking an FP&A Director to drive financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance Management across the organization. You will transform data into actionable insights to guide leadership decisions and profitable growth.

You'll lead budgeting cycles, develop KPIs and dashboards with Power BI, and support strategic initiatives including acquisitions. This role partners with senior leadership across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Residence in MI, OH, or IN preferred with strong commuting flexibility.
  • 10+ years of FP&A experience in PE-backed or construction/MEP environments.
  • Proven ability to build dashboards and complex financial models.

This role leads financial planning, forecasting, analysis, reporting, and performance management across Pinnacle MEP and its operating companies. The FP&A Director partners closely with senior leadership and cross-functional business leaders to understand financial and operational drivers, identify trends and opportunities, and translate complex financial information into actionable insights.

What You'll Do

Financial Planning, Forecasting & Performance Management

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting process, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Prepare detailed financial analyses and reports to evaluate business performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results against budgets and forecasts and identify the key drivers of performance.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support business planning, strategic initiatives, pricing decisions, capital investments, and other business opportunities.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic and long-term planning.

Business Intelligence & Reporting
  • Develop and implement KPIs and dashboards to measure and monitor the financial and operational performance of business units.
  • Leverage Power BI and other analytical tools to transform financial and operational data into meaningful reporting and actionable insights.
  • Partner with business leaders to understand key performance drivers and develop reporting that supports informed decision-making.
  • Identify trends, opportunities, risks, and performance gaps across the organization.

Strategic & Transaction Support
  • Support acquisitions by preparing data-driven analyses of target companies and their operations.
  • Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives, investments, and other projects requiring financial analysis and modeling.
  • Develop financial models and analyses to evaluate business opportunities and potential outcomes.
  • Build and maintain financial models and reporting necessary to support the company's preparation for a future exit.

Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Work closely with Finance, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to gather data, understand business drivers, and improve financial visibility.
  • Identify opportunities to improve FP&A processes, reporting, and analytical capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain consistent financial analysis and reporting practices across the organization.
  • Communicate financial findings clearly and effectively to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Reside in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana (strongly preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably within a private equity-backed company and/or construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or skilled-trades environment.
  • Deep expertise in Power BI, including the ability to develop meaningful dashboards and reporting.
  • Superior financial analysis, Excel, and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment.
  • Ability to drive a rapid pace and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial and business information.
  • Must reside near Detroit, MI; Indianapolis, IN; or Cincinnati, OH.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, CPA, or CMA.
  • Experience supporting private equity transactions, including buy-side diligence and acquisitions.
  • Experience in construction, MEP, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or skilled-trades organizations.
  • Experience supporting financial planning and reporting for a multi-entity or multi-business-unit organization.

Travel Requirements

  • Local travel may be required between Pinnacle MEP business units and operating company locations.

Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office and computer-based work requiring extended periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers for computer, keyboard, and other office equipment.
  • Occasional walking, standing, reaching, and movement within office and business environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through virtual communication platforms.
