Job summary

Plunkett's Pest Control is seeking an FP&A Analyst to join our finance team in Fridley, MN. The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis to improve operational performance and strategic insight.

The analyst will build financial models, perform variance and scenario analyses, and partner with sales, operations, and marketing to drive margin improvement and pricing insights. This is an early-career role with growth potential in a family-owned company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or data analysis (including internships).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort with structured datasets.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly forecasts and annual budgets.
• Assist in building and updating financial models for revenue, labor, and operating costs.
• Perform scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis; support long-range planning.
• Prepare recurring financial reports, including monthly performance packages.
• Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts.
• Analyze financial and operational drivers, including revenue trends and profitability.
• Maintain standardized reporting formats and improve reporting consistency.
• Partner with operations, sales, and marketing to understand performance drivers.
• Provide analytical support for pricing, cost control, and margin improvement.
• Evaluate KPIs such as technician productivity and route efficiency.

FP&A Analyst

Plunkett's Pest Control, a family-owned company with over 100 years of history, is adding an FP&A Analyst to our Finance team in Fridley, MN.

The FP&A Analyst supports financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis for Plunkett's. This role combines foundational analytical responsibilities with exposure to strategic finance, contributing to decision-making and operational performance improvement. It's designed for an early-career professional with high growth potential, with responsibilities spanning budgeting, reporting, and cross-functional business support. The role also incorporates data tools and emerging AI capabilities to improve efficiency, enhance analysis, and strengthen financial insights.

What You'll Do

• Support the development and maintenance of monthly forecasts and annual budgets
• Assist in building and updating financial models related to revenue, labor, and operating costs
• Perform scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis to support planning efforts, and contribute to long-range financial planning
• Prepare recurring financial reports, including monthly performance packages
• Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to budget, forecast, and prior periods
• Analyze key financial and operational drivers, including revenue trends, cost structures, and profitability
• Assist in maintaining standardized reporting formats and improving reporting consistency
• Partner with operational, sales, and marketing teams to understand business performance drivers
• Provide analytical support for pricing, cost control, and margin improvement initiatives
• Evaluate key performance indicators such as technician productivity, route efficiency, and customer retention
• Support ad hoc analyses and special projects aligned with business priorities
• Extract, manipulate, and analyze data from our ERP system (Sage), Clypboard, and other business tools
• Maintain and enhance reporting tools, including Excel-based models and BI dashboards
• Identify and execute opportunities to automate manual reporting processes
• Leverage AI-enabled tools (e.g., Copilot, forecasting platforms, data automation tools) to improve efficiency, enhance forecasting accuracy, and generate insights from large or complex datasets
• Support the ongoing development of finance data capabilities and analytics maturity

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field
• 1-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or data analysis (including internships)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with structured datasets
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred, but not required: exposure to financial modeling, budgeting, or forecasting processes; experience with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau); familiarity with ERP or financial systems; demonstrated interest or experience applying AI tools to analytics or business processes; and experience in service-based or operations-driven industries.
