FP&A / Workday Adaptive Planning Consultant
Overview
Join a finance transformation initiative focused on improving planning, reporting, and automation through Workday Adaptive Planning. This hands-on consultant will partner with FP&A and Accounting to modernize existing processes, strengthen model structure, reduce manual data preparation, and build repeatable reporting workflows.
The ideal candidate combines strong FP&A expertise with the ability to configure and optimize Adaptive Planning—not simply use it as an end user. You will translate finance requirements into practical solutions, develop scalable templates and reporting processes, and document workflows for long-term ownership by the permanent FP&A team.
This is a fully remote, three-month contract engagement with potential for extension. Candidates who can work from a San Francisco office on Thursdays for face-to-face FP&A meetings are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing FP&A workflows in Workday Adaptive Planning and identify opportunities to improve model hygiene, automation, and reporting.
- Configure Adaptive input templates, data mappings, custom accounts, and processes.
- Build recurring fixed- and variable-cost reporting by business unit and legal entity.
- Develop standardized Excel or Google Sheets templates for accrual calculations, software capitalization, variable costs, and annual planning data.
- Establish repeatable data-loading, validation, and reconciliation procedures using Google Sheets and financial system data.
- Leverage the Workday for Google Sheets extension's write-back capabilities where appropriate.
- Create reports showing monthly cost trends, prior-period comparisons, and information needed for forecasting.
- Automate headcount analysis and other priority FP&A processes.
- Support dashboard development and improve visibility into financial performance.
- Partner effectively with FP&A, Accounting, and management stakeholders.
- Document completed workflows and train the permanent FP&A team member to maintain and enhance them.
- Deliver foundational data preparation, mapping, and automation within a short-term engagement.
