Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an engineer to design, develop, and implement foundry tooling in Hodges, SC. You will collaborate with design engineers and the tooling shop to resolve quality and leadership actions through construction, implementation, and validation phases.

The role emphasizes experience with cast iron foundry tooling, material research, prototype testing, supplier development, and documenting functional requirements while contributing to buy-build analyses and technical reports.

  • CAD/Engineering: produce, analyze, simulate and test designs.
  • Product Design - MFG: translate requirements into design.
  • Product Design and Development: take concepts to production.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, builds, and implements foundry tooling with engineers and tooling shop.
  • Researches new materials, tests prototypes, and analyzes performance.
  • Supports supplier development and oversees drafting and testing staff.
  • Develops functional requirements and translates to detailed designs; participates in buy-build analyses.
  • Contributes to proposals, cost estimates, and technical reports.
