Job summary

Sunray IT Inc in Hodges, SC is seeking a Design Engineer 4 – Foundry Tooling to design and develop tooling for foundries, support RFQs, and resolve casting issues.

You will perform re-gating, run simulations, collaborate with suppliers and engineers, and drive tooling improvements across the build process. A background in No-Bake/Cold Box and proficiency with CAD (Creo) are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in foundry engineering/tooling design.
• Experience with CAD tools to develop tooling, patterns, and core boxes.
• Knowledge of No-Bake and Cold Box molding processes and related defects.
• Experience with casting simulation and complex tooling modeling.
• Strong ability to read machining drawings and GD&T specifications.

Job description

Role: The Design Engineer 4 – Foundry Tooling will be responsible for designing and developing foundry tooling, supporting tooling RFQs, resolving casting issues, and performing re-gating and simulation activities.

Location: Hodges, South Carolina

Work Arrangement: On-site, Full-Time

Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM 2:30 PM

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant Foundry Engineering / Tooling Design experience

Required Skills

• Strong experience designing foundry tooling, patterns, and core boxes using CAD, preferably Creo
• Knowledge of No-Bake and Cold Box molding processes, casting defects, scrap analysis, and resolution
• Experience with SolidCast / casting simulation and complex tooling modeling
• Strong understanding of machining drawings, GD&T, offsets, clearances, and tooling layouts
• Ability to work with suppliers, pattern makers, engineers, and cross-functional teams

Preferred Skills

• Actual Foundry Tooling Design experience
