Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks an S3 Furnace operator for the 4th shift (Fri-Sun, 7:00am–7:00pm) at our Clayville, NY site. You will perform furnace tasks, support continuous improvement, and ensure safety and quality in manufacturing processes.

Qualified candidates have a HS diploma or GED and 4+ years' relevant experience, plus the ability to wear a respirator and work outside regular hours. Training and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• HS diploma (or GED) and 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong attendance record is required.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work hours outside the regular shift.
• Must be able to wear a respirator.
• Mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Physical ability to ascend/descend stairs, stand long, bend, squat, twist, reach overhead and lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties of an S3 Furnace operator and support CORE/EH&S initiatives.
• Carry out more complex PM tasks on furnaces and tower systems.
• Replace power leads/ports, valve components and similar parts as directed.
• Assemble LPA system and ensure leak-free connections during alloy changes.
• Provide on-the-job training for new hires.
• Organize daily workload in absence of team lead to meet production targets.
• Refer issues to Supervisor or Team Leader as needed.
• Occasionally take on tasks outside listed scope to support department goals.

What You Will Do

Perform all duties of an S3 Furnace operator, additionally:

• Support the cell’s continuous improvement and all CORE and EH&S initiatives, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Successfully perform more complex PM tasks on furnaces and tower systems to include: Internal and external furnace power lead replacement, furnace power port replacement, power lead pass through replacement, V1 valve replacements, and return dump valve replacements.
• Ability to assemble LPA system, and ensure leak free connections during alloy changes.
• Perform on the job training for new hires
• In the absence of team lead, organize teams daily workload to ensure daily production targets are met.
• Refer difficulties to Supervisor or Team Leader.
• May be assigned to tasks not specifically listed within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual skills.
• On occasion you may be required to work hours outside of your typical shift.
• This position is for 4th Shift Friday - Sunday 7:00am - 7:00pm.

• HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

The salary range for this role is $28.00 per hour. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skils.
