Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is hiring for an onsite role at our Clayville, NY facility. You will support vacuum atomization furnace setup, perform hoist operations, and assist in lid/coil changes while maintaining safety and CORE/EH&S standards.

The role requires a High School diploma, reliable attendance, and the ability to work a 4x10 schedule from 2:00pm to 12:00am. Candidates must be prepared to wear a respirator and work around heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning, monitoring and securing operations for vacuum atomization furnace setup.
• Operate basic hoist and rigging; operate powered industrial vehicles (PIVs).
• Assist in furnace lid and coil removal/replacement; clean interior of furnace chamber and O-ring seal.
• Connect/disconnect gas, electric, and water lines to furnace lid and tank as directed.
• Assist in disassembly/reassembly of atomization chamber during alloy changes.
• Operate insertion and halo gas during atomization; perform minor repairs under supervision.
• Support CORE and EH&S initiatives; wear PPE.
• Refer issues to Supervisor or Team Leader; may be assigned additional tasks.
• Occasional shift hours beyond normal schedule; work 4x10 shift 2:00pm-12:00am.

What You Will Do

• Perform various cleaning, monitoring and securing operations to assist in the set-up of a vacuum atomization furnace.
• Basic hoist and rigging operations
• Operate powered industrial vehicles (PIVs)
• Assist in the removal and replacement furnace lid and coils.
• Cleaning the interior of the furnace chamber and “O” ring seal
• As directed assist in the attachment and detachment of gas, electric, and water lines to furnace lid and tank.
• Utilizing electric hoist remove and replace furnace lid from furnace chamber.
• Under supervision of team lead, perform disassembly and reassembly of atomization chamber during alloy changes
• Operating insertion and halo gas during atomization
• Make minor repairs on the furnace, and other auxiliary equipment under the supervision of team lead
• Support the cell’s continuous improvement and all CORE and EH&S initiatives, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Refer difficulties to Supervisor or Team Leader.
• May be assigned to tasks not specifically listed within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual skills.
• On occasion you may be required to work hours outside of your typical shift.
• The position will work a schedule of Monday - Thursday (4x10) 2:00pm - 12:00am (7th shift).

• Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is $21.00/hr. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
