Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking an onsite team member for furnace operation and maintenance at our US site. You will perform hoist/rigger tasks, operate PIVs, and support furnace maintenance and coil changes while following CORE/EH&S standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and may involve extended hours, with a 5th shift (Fri-Sun, 7:00pm–7:00am). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.

Responsibilities

• Basic hoist and rigging operations.
• Operate powered industrial vehicles (PIVs).
• Assist in removal and replacement of furnace lid and coils; clean furnace interior and seal.
• Attach/detach gas, electric, and water lines to furnace lid and tank; use electric hoist to remove/replace furnace lid.
• Under supervision, disassemble/reassemble atomization chamber during alloy changes.
• Operate insertion and halo gas during atomization.
• Make minor repairs on the furnace and auxiliary equipment under supervision.
• Support continuous improvement and CORE/EH&S initiatives, including PPE.
• Refer difficulties to Supervisor or Team Leader.
• May be assigned additional tasks to support department objectives.
• Occasional hours may extend beyond a typical shift.
• Schedule: Friday - Sunday (3x12) 7:00pm - 7:00am (5th shift).

What You Will Do

• Basic hoist and rigging operations
• Operate powered industrial vehicles (PIVs)
• Assist in the removal and replacement furnace lid and coils. Cleaning the interior of the furnace chamber and “O” ring seal
• As directed assist in the attachment and detachment of gas, electric, and water lines to furnace lid and tank. Utilizing electric hoist remove and replace furnace lid from furnace chamber.
• Under supervision of team lead, perform disassembly and reassembly of atomization chamber during alloy changes
• Operating insertion and halo gas during atomization
• Make minor repairs on the furnace, and other auxiliary equipment under the supervision of team lead
• Support the cell’s continuous improvement and all CORE and EH&S initiatives, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Refer difficulties to Supervisor or Team Leader.
• May be assigned to tasks not specifically listed within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual skills.
• On occasion you may be required to work hours outside of your typical shift.
• The position will work a schedule of Friday - Sunday (3x12) 7:00pm - 7:00am (5th shift).

The salary range for this role is $21.00 per hour. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
