Job summary

J&T Business Consulting seeks a Foundry Engineering Manager in Spokane, WA to serve as the primary technical problem solver for the foundry. The role is hands-on, focused on reducing scrap, improving casting quality, and increasing throughput across molding, melting, and finishing.

It leads the pattern shop and foundry engineering functions and provides guidance to department managers and senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Hands-on foundry engineering focus with root-cause problem solving.
• Strong capability in metallurgical analysis and process improvement.
• Experience with gating, risering, and solidification.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as the foundry's primary technical problem solver across molding, melting, and finishing.
• Review scrap and rework data to identify root causes and reduce scrap.
• Collaborate with molding and melting managers to improve casting quality.
• Drive pattern and method design to improve yield and reduce finishing needs.
• Identify critical control points and implement corrective actions.
• Minimize consumption of foundry consumables without compromising quality.
• Manage the foundry engineering staff.
• Apply statistical methods to analyze processes and defects to set standards.
• Provide technical support to departments inside and outside the foundry.
• Support new product development translating requirements into producible designs.
• Recommend equipment and facility improvements.
