Job summary

Mueller Water Products, Inc. is seeking a Foundry Lab Technician to support iron and sand testing at our Albertville, Alabama facility.

You will collect samples, perform tests, record results, and initiate corrective actions while collaborating with Melt Deck personnel and the metallurgist to resolve issues, all while adhering to plant safety rules.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and some college.
  • Complete understanding of operation/function of lab measurement and test equipment.
  • Must be analytical minded, capable of assessing the melt metal while troubleshooting any issues that are encountered.
  • Adequate communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Quality conscious

Responsibilities

  • Collect and prepare iron and sand samples for testing as required.
  • Perform all required lab testing on iron samples.
  • Record and analyze iron and sand test results.
  • Initiate corrective action measures necessary to bring out of spec findings into compliance.
  • Order laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Calibrate/standardize all testing equipment as necessary.
  • Adhere to all plant safety rules and procedures.
  • Work with Melt Deck personnel/management as well as metallurgist to correct problems associated with melt metal.
  • Work with Lost Foam, Molding and Core Room foreman to correct problems associated with sand system.

Foundry Lab Technician Essential Functions:
