Job summary

Mueller Water Products, Inc. is seeking a Production Lead to supervise line teams on the shop floor, ensuring SOP compliance and assisting the Supervisor as needed.

The role emphasizes leading by example, training teammates, and maintaining safety, quality, and productivity across manufacturing processes. You will coordinate with maintenance, quality and planning to meet daily production targets.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean, organized work area; support maintenance cooperation.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes with approved rigging.
  • Guide and direct team to meet production goals.

Production Lead

SUMMARY

The primary function of this position is to ensure that our team members on the lines in which the Team Lead supports are trained appropriately, are following the SOPs of their position, and assist the Supervisor where needed or in their absence.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DUTIES/RESPONSIBLITIES


  • Work Safely in the Manufacturing Production Environment

  • Follow detailed verbal / written assembly instructions, processes, and procedures

  • Read and understand customer work orders and assembly instructions – blueprints, technical drawings, etc.

  • Ability to train others and multiple processes and procedures

  • Dismantling, assembling, painting valves and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastening them using hand tools and power tools

  • Operate hand power tools, presses, drills, saws, lifts, and control equipment efficiently and safely

  • Perform quality control checks and verification of work order specifications

  • Communicates and works effectively with others

  • Provide hands on and verbal job function training to coworkers as needed

  • Report problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to the Production Supervisor, or appropriate party

  • Assist in RCCM (Root Cause, Counter Measure) process to resolve issues

  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions

  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes with approved rigging methods as directed

  • Perform other routine duties as directed

  • Give guidance and direction as needed to meet production line goals


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Advanced math skills with the ability to understand measuring/measurement concepts and their applications

  • Familiarity with basic and advanced tools of measuring and when to use for inspection of parts

  • Must be organized, detail oriented

  • Follow detailed verbal / written assembly instructions, processes, and procedures

  • Read and understand work orders and assembly instructions

  • Prepare and assemble materials and parts in a manufacturing production environment

  • Perform quality control checks and verification of work order specifications

  • Properly fill out basic forms, reports, and label products correctly

  • Communicates and works effectively with others

  • Ability to provide guidance, troubleshooting, and best practices


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Knowledge of welding principles.

  • Experience in an industrial and/or manufacturing type environment.

  • Professional Welding Certification is a plus.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.

  • Must be able to sit and stand in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.

  • Must be able to walk around in an industrial plant safety sensitive environment on an ongoing daily basis

  • Must have good manual dexterity (use of hands and fingers) to use a computer, copier, fax, phone, and multiple pieces of industrial equipment.

  • Occasionally ascend or descend stairs.

  • The person in this position must be able to manage a team, communicate with leadership, and other departments daily, so the ability to speak & communicate clearly and accurately is essential.

  • Position requires the ability to hear and see as this person will be on the plant floor in safety sensitive areas daily.

  • Must be able to work in both a plant (loud noises, cold/hot environment, machinery running) and office environment.

  • Must be able to function in a high-pressure production type environment.
