Job summary

Mueller Water Products seeks a General Utility Maintenance person for our Chattanooga, TN facility. You will support maintenance activities, move materials, and help keep the production area clean and safe.

The role requires physical work and adherence to safety protocols in a manufacturing setting. Responsibilities include assisting craftsmen, handling parts, and maintaining organized areas, with potential overtime and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must pass aptitude test, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
• Willing to work all shifts including possible overtime.

Responsibilities

• Empty metal hoppers/containers as needed.
• Perform general cleanup inMaintenance areas.
• Transport parts/materials between Receiving and Stockroom.
• Assist craftsmen in retrieving and delivering parts.

Primary Responsibilities

• Empty metal hoppers/containers as needed, within Maintenance Department
• Perform general cleanup in Maintenance areas
• Transport MRO parts/materials from Receiving to Stockroom as needed
• Assist maintenance craftsmen in retrieving parts/materials from storage and deliver to jobsites as needed
• Keep maintenance storage areas organized
• Act as Fire Watch for hot work jobs as needed (must be trained)
• Act as Attendant for Confined Space jobs as needed, (must be trained)
• Work safely in the manufacturing production environment
• Follow detailed verbal/written assembly instructions, processes, and procedures
• Properly fill out basic forms, reports, and label products correctly
• Communicate and work effectively with others
• Provide hands-on and verbal job function training to coworkers as needed
• Report problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to Supervisor(s)
• Record daily all work performed and correct distribution of work time
• Keep the department/work area clean of trash and debris
• Use software systems as needed to complete job duties
• Contribute to culture of high-quality products
• Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions

Job Expectations

• Ability to work with your hands
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds, and up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures (hot/cold)
• Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach at arm's length, stoop, kneel, and crouch
• Ability to use power tools, air tools, and other vibratory tools
• Ability to work around hot heavy machinery
• Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time
• Ability to move materials with a powered vehicle (forklift)
• Repetitive standing, bending, turning, and twisting for extended periods of time
• Must be able to pass a basic aptitude test, physical, with drug/alcohol test and background screen
• Candidates must be available to work all shifts including possible mandatory overtime on weekends
• Ability to climb ladders and work at and in high spaces
