Job summary

Roark is seeking an early-stage founding Frontend Engineer to own the customer-facing surfaces of a scoring platform. You will take a one-sentence request from concept to production, staying close to the users you ship for.

Work spans Next.js/React frontend, GraphQL API, and a Postgres data model. You will partner with design, observe users, and push for fast, reliable improvements with clear written communication in a remote team.

Role overview

An early-stage founding role owning the customer-facing surfaces of a platform used to score calls, file issues, and verify fixes. The engineer takes features from a one-sentence customer request all the way to production and stays close to the people using what they ship.

Responsibilities

• Design and build product surfaces end to end, spanning a Next.js and React frontend, a GraphQL API, and a Postgres data model from schema to pixel.
• Translate messy real-world workflows such as test suites, issue triage, and run reviews into interfaces that feel obvious in hindsight.
• Work directly with design on a system that takes craft seriously, and push back when something reads wrong.
• Sit in on customer calls, watch people use shipped features, and ship fixes the same week.
• Raise the quality bar with selective tests, instrumentation everywhere, and no silent failures.

Requirements

• 4+ years building production web applications, with deep TypeScript and React experience.
• Comfort owning a feature across the full stack, including API design, data modeling, and UI polish.
• A portfolio or set of war stories showing product taste, including attention to spacing, latency, and empty states.
• Bias to ship: preference for putting a small version in front of a user this week over a larger version next month.
• Clear written communication suited to a remote team that writes things down.

• Day-to-day work in a stack of TypeScript, Next.js, React, GraphQL, Postgres with Drizzle, Bun, and AWS via SST.
