Job summary

Signify Technology is seeking a Founding Software Engineer in Jersey City, NJ, offering a base salary of $150,000–$180,000 plus equity. This hybrid position gives you direct collaboration with the founders to shape the technical direction, architecture and product.

You will design and build the backend architecture for an AI-powered regulatory intelligence platform, build ingestion pipelines, and develop AI-powered workflows.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with significant ownership of production systems.
• Strong experience designing and building search systems.
• Experience working with GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Experience building AI agents, agentic workflows or LLM-powered automation systems using technologies such as LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, OpenAI Assistants/Responses API or similar.
• Strong Python development experience and experience with modern Python frameworks.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and relational databases.
• Comfortable working with large datasets.

Responsibilities

The Company

Our client is an early-stage technology company using AI to solve one of the biggest information problems facing infrastructure development.

Their platform brings together regulations, technical standards, permitting requirements and agency guidance from thousands of sources, using AI to make complex regulatory information searchable, structured, explainable and actionable.

This is a founding engineering opportunity where you'll work directly with the founders and have significant influence over the technical direction, architecture and product.

Nice To Have

• Experience with spatial indexing, GIS or mapping frameworks.
• Experience within infrastructure, energy, environmental permitting, utilities or regulatory technology.
• Previous experience at a high-growth startup or on a founding engineering team.
• Experience building 0-to-1 products and taking systems from concept through to production.
