Qualifications

• 2–6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong full-stack proficiency: frontend and backend.
• Solid AWS experience (Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge, S3, API Gateway).
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React; Node.js for APIs.
• Familiar with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Supabase).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the full-stack application across frontend, backend, APIs, and infrastructure.
• Design and implement Shopify integrations with e-commerce platforms.
• Own AWS infrastructure: deployment pipelines, serverless functions, databases.
• Develop data models and workflows for insurance product delivery and analytics.
• Collaborate with the CEO to translate business priorities into technical execution.
• Implement A/B testing, analytics instrumentation, and conversion tooling.
• Establish engineering best practices: CI/CD, code review, testing, monitoring.
• Make architectural choices to scale platform from dozens to thousands of merchants.

Overview

The Role: We are hiring a Founding Software Engineer to own and evolve our full technical stack. You will report directly to the CEO and have significant influence over architecture decisions, tooling, and product direction. This is a high-autonomy role for someone who wants to build something meaningful from the early stages and grow into a leadership position as the team scales.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain our full-stack application across frontend, backend, APIs, and infrastructure
• Design and implement integrations with Shopify and other e-commerce platforms
• Own our AWS infrastructure: deployment pipelines, serverless functions, databases, event-driven architectures
• Develop data models and workflows that support insurance product delivery, claims processing, and merchant analytics
• Collaborate directly with the CEO to translate business priorities into technical execution
• Implement A/B testing frameworks, analytics instrumentation, and conversion optimization tooling
• Establish engineering best practices: CI/CD, code review, testing, documentation, and monitoring
• Make architectural choices that allow the platform to scale from dozens of merchants to thousands

What We're Looking For

• 2 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong full-stack proficiency: you can build a clean frontend and a reliable backend
• Solid experience with AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge, S3, API Gateway, or similar)
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one modern frontend framework (React preferred)
• Experience with Node.js and building RESTful or event-driven APIs
• Comfort working with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Supabase, etc.)
• Self-starter mentality: you thrive with ambiguity, take ownership, and ship without waiting for a spec
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Shopify app development, Shopify APIs, or the Shopify ecosystem
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms, checkout flows, or post-purchase experiences
• Background in insurtech, fintech, or regulated industries
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation)
• Prior experience at an early-stage startup or as a founding/first engineer
• Familiarity with Supabase and webhook-driven architectures
