Job summary

Blacksky Algorithms seeks a senior backend engineer to own major Rust services powering feeds, data, and APIs. You will influence protocol specifications and contribute to the AT Protocol ecosystem, including e-cash and private spaces.

The role demands deep experience with high-throughput systems and cryptography, with ownership from day one. Remote-friendly role with overlap with Eastern Time; equity included.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of production backend or infrastructure experience.
• Strong in Rust or similar systems language (C/C++/Go) and ability to learn Rust quickly.
• Comfort with applied cryptography and protocol design.

Responsibilities

• Own large parts of Rust services behind feeds, data, and APIs.
• Shape and implement protocol specifications and standards contributions.
• Ensure high-throughput real-time data processing and reliability for millions of users.
• Contribute to security tooling and privacy protections across the stack.
