Job description

Founding Product Manager

Location: San Francisco, CA (In-person, 5 days/week)

Employment: Full-time

About Engramme

Engramme is an AI research lab building a Large Memory Model (LMM) to fundamentally change how humans interact with information.

Today, almost all memory systems are passive. Whether it's Google Drive, Slack, or your notes, you have to remember what you're looking for and actively retrieve it. We're building a system that can proactively surface the right information at the right moment, without requiring you to search for it.

Our mission is to endow humans with effectively limitless, accessible memory.

Engramme was founded by Gabriel Kreiman, a former Harvard professor who left his tenure to build the company full-time, and Spandan Madan, an AI researcher. We've raised two rounds of funding and assembled a team of exceptional researchers and engineers.

We're now looking for our first Product Manager to help turn our research into products that people love.

About the Role

This is a true 0→1 product role.

We have ambitious technology, a strong research and engineering team, and an enormous opportunity ahead of us. Much of the product surface is still unwritten.

You'll work directly with our founders, researchers, engineers, and early users to figure out what products we should build, who we should build them for, and how to bring them to market.

You'll have substantial ownership over both product strategy and execution. This means everything from identifying promising use cases and talking to users to defining product experiences, working alongside engineers, shipping products, and iterating based on feedback.

We're a small team, and we're looking for someone who enjoys building, not just managing a roadmap.

What You'll Do
  • Own products from 0→1. Identify opportunities, define product direction, and take ideas from early concepts to products that real users rely on.

  • Work directly with the founders. Help shape Engramme's product strategy, identify our most promising initial markets, and make difficult prioritization decisions.

  • Get close to users. Conduct user research, understand workflows and pain points, and translate observations into concrete product decisions.

  • Build alongside engineers and researchers. Understand our underlying technology, navigate technical tradeoffs, and work hands‑on to bring products to life.

  • Ship and iterate quickly. Design experiments, launch products, analyze usage and feedback, and continuously improve the experience.

  • Own the entire product lifecycle. From early discovery and prototyping through launch, onboarding, adoption, and growth.

  • Help establish our product culture. As our first PM, you'll play an important role in shaping how product development works at Engramme.

What We're Looking For
  • Demonstrated 0→1 experience. You've personally taken a product or meaningful feature from an idea to something that real users actually use. You can clearly articulate your decisions, contributions, and outcomes.

  • Strong technical fluency. You're comfortable working deeply with engineers, understanding technical systems, and getting hands‑on with code or prototypes when necessary.

  • Exceptional product judgment. You can identify meaningful user problems, distinguish important opportunities from distractions, and make good decisions with incomplete information.

  • High agency and ownership. You're comfortable operating without a playbook, figuring things out independently, and doing whatever is necessary to move the product forward.

  • Strong execution. You have a bias toward shipping, learning, and iterating rather than spending excessive time planning.

  • Intellectual curiosity. You're excited about emerging AI capabilities and enjoy exploring what new technology makes possible.

  • Clear communication. You can explain complex ideas, challenge assumptions, and work effectively across research, engineering, and business.

Experience building developer tools, technical infrastructure, or AI products is a strong plus. Experience as an early startup employee, founding PM, product engineer, or founder is especially relevant.

We care more about what you've personally built and accomplished than your title or years of experience.

Why Join Engramme?
  • Work on a fundamental AI problem. We're building new memory capabilities, not simply another application on top of existing models.

  • Meaningful ownership from day one. You'll be our first PM, with an opportunity to influence both our earliest products and the long-term direction of the company.

  • Work directly with exceptional researchers and engineers. Collaborate closely with our founders and technical team to turn fundamental research into real‑world applications.

  • Build at the earliest stage. We're well-funded, growing quickly, and still early enough that individual contributions can meaningfully shape the company.

This role is fully in-person at our San Francisco office, five days per week.
