Job summary

David Joseph & Company seeks a founding engineer to join a small, product-minded team and own core backend features end-to-end for a fast-growing pricing and quoting platform. This is a backend-leaning full-stack role with real ownership, shipping critical features customers rely on and shaping early product decisions.

Based in San Francisco, the position is on-site five days a week near Montgomery Station, offering a base salary range of $160k–$200k plus equity and a full benefits package as

Qualifications

• Roughly 4 to 8 years of full-stack software engineering experience.
• Track record of owning features end-to-end within a small engineering team.
• Strong backend engineering skills in TypeScript or Python.
• Solid experience with SQL, ideally PostgreSQL or similar.
• Experience building products at a venture-backed startup.
• Strong ownership mentality, driving projects without direction.

Responsibilities

• Building and shipping core backend features for the pricing and quoting platform.
• Developing AI-powered agents launching in the near term.
• Owning product features end-to-end, from design through implementation.
• Contributing to product decisions and understanding the reasoning behind what you build.

The Role

As a Founding Engineer, you would join a small, product-minded engineering team and own core features end-to-end for a fast-growing pricing and quoting platform. This is a backend-leaning full-stack role with real scope: you would ship the product that customers run their revenue on and help shape early product decisions.

What you'll be doing

• Building and shipping core backend features for the pricing and quoting platform
• Developing AI-powered agents launching in the near term
• Owning product features end-to-end, from design through implementation
• Contributing to product decisions and understanding the reasoning behind what you build
• Working cross-functionally in a small company, including occasional support of customer onboarding
