Job summary

Samson Rose is seeking a Founding Fab Engineer in Los Angeles to build and lead our nanofabrication capability. You will own the process flow, equipment base, and facility, starting with external partners and progressing to in-house, production-scale manufacturing. Equity and strategic scope accompany this pivotal early role.

The role reports to the CEO and will recruit a small senior team as the fabrication capability matures, shaping the company's long-term roadmap in photonics manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Owns a nanofabrication process flow from wafer to device and failure modes.
• Dry-etch expertise with ICP‑RIE for device performance.
• Process-level EBL experience including exposure strategy and corrections.
• Experience installing/maintaining fabrication equipment.
• Metrology across SEM, profilometry, and optical inspection.
• Must be a U.S. person per ITAR requirements.

Responsibilities

• Establish and scale the fabrication capability and in-house lab.
• Manage external foundries while transitioning steps in-house.
• Recruit, develop, and lead the fabrication team.
