Job summary

General Medicine is seeking a mobile engineer to build our first native app using React Native. This foundational role involves standing up the mobile app from scratch, making architectural decisions, and setting patterns for the team.

You’ll work with Swift or Kotlin when needed, mainly in TypeScript and React, and contribute to our Next.js web frontend. Ideal candidates have shipped React Native apps, understand iOS/Android ecosystems, and thrive in a fast, ambiguous environment—collaborating

Qualifications

• 3+ years of building mobile apps with production React Native
• Strong knowledge of native iOS and/or Android development (Swift or Kotlin)
• Experience with Expo, build tooling, OTA updates, and native module configuration
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React
• Experience architecting shared code between mobile and web
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation of the first native mobile app from scratch.
• Make key architectural decisions and establish patterns for the team.
• Collaborate with design, operations, and clinical stakeholders to deliver a great product.
