Job summary

General Medicine Inc. is seeking a mobile engineer to build our first native mobile app using React Native. This foundational role involves standing up the app from scratch, making key architectural decisions, and setting patterns for the team.

The ideal candidate has shipped React Native apps in production and is comfortable bridging RN with native iOS/Android (Swift/Kotlin). You’ll work in TypeScript/React and contribute to the Next.js web frontend as part of a single surface area.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building mobile apps, with meaningful production experience in React Native.
• Strong understanding of native iOS and/or Android development (Swift, Kotlin) — you don't need to be an expert in both, but you should be comfortable with either.
• Experience with Expo, including build tooling, OTA updates, and native module configuration
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React
• Experience architecting shared code between mobile and web codebases (or a strong opinion on how to do it well)
• Familiarity with modern backend frameworks is a plus — we use Ruby on Rails and Postgres

Responsibilities

• Build and stand up the mobile app from scratch, making key architectural decisions and setting patterns for the rest of the team.
• Write product requirements documents and SQL to understand feature performance, and own QA as part of the workflow.
• Collaborate closely with design, operations, and clinical stakeholders to deliver a great product.
