Job summary

Talently is hiring a hands-on Founding Hardware Lead to own hardware development across product design, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and team growth. You will prototype, test, and prepare products for manufacturing while shaping the hardware organization.

You will hire and lead hardware engineers, manage contract manufacturers, and define scalable development processes to drive concepts into production with autonomy and impact.

Qualifications

• Hands-on hardware design and prototyping
• Experience shipping at least one electromechanical product
• End-to-end ownership from concept through post-launch
• Ability to lead a hardware team and manage suppliers
• Strong documentation and manufacturing transfer expertise
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to work onsite in Sunnyvale, CA

Responsibilities

• Own connected hardware products from concept to manufacturing and post-launch support
• Develop mechanical/electromechanical architectures integrating electronics, sensors, compute, power, and thermal management
• Create CAD models, drawings, GD&T, FMEA, and manufacturing docs
• Own design-transfer packages including BOMs and assembly procedures
• Build and test prototypes, identify risks, iterate quickly
• Lead contract manufacturers, tooling, sourcing, schedules, cost, and quality
• Work with domestic and overseas manufacturing partners through ramp
• Troubleshoot issues and drive root-cause analyses
• Lead certification and compliance efforts
• Establish hardware development processes, stage gates, and quality systems
• Translate feedback into actionable product requirements
• Hire, coach, and lead a growing hardware team
• Collaborate with product, industrial design, electrical engineering, software, operations, and supply chain
