OpenAI, Inc. is seeking a Founding Full Stack Software Engineer to define and build the product and technical foundations of a new engineering vertical.

You’ll work across frontend experiences, backend services, and integrations to bring AI into CAD/CAE workflows used by mechanical and electrical engineers. You’ll combine strong software engineering fundamentals with product judgment, work directly with engineers and design partners, and turn ambiguous problems into reliable, shipped products

Qualifications

• Independently built and shipped substantial software products with ownership across frontend and backend systems.
• Strong product instincts and intuitive UI judgment for complex tools.
• Ability to translate vague opportunities into concrete starting points and working products.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship full-stack AI products for mechanical and electrical engineering design and simulation tasks.
• Own projects from customer discovery and prototyping through production deployment.
• Create intuitive interfaces to help users inspect and refine complex outputs.
• Develop backend services, APIs, plugins, and integrations with engineering software.
• Collaborate with customers to translate needs into broadly useful products.
• Partner with research, design, platform, and field engineers to bring AI capabilities to workflows.
• Evaluate quality and reliability using customer feedback and product evidence.
• Help establish technical foundations and engineering practices for a growing team.
