Job summary

Big Wave Digital is partnering with an early-stage AI company to find its first Frontend Engineer. You will own the frontend interface used by every client engagement and help define the design system that will scale across products.

As the founding frontend hire, you will build dashboards, real-time data views, and AI-enabled UI components, collaborating closely with product and backend teams. A strong portfolio and production React/TypeScript experience are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of frontend engineering on B2B or data-heavy web apps.
• Experience building data-heavy UI: dashboards, data visualisations, or streaming views.
• You've built and owned a design system or component library, not just used one.
• Production React and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Build the client-facing UI that clients engage with across engagements.

Big Wave Digital is partnering with an early-stage AI company to find its first Frontend Engineer.

The company is building the AI intelligence platform for a large, data-rich industry. As the founding frontend hire, you'll build the interface every client engagement runs on, and create the design system the rest of the team uses to build client-facing apps.

What you'll be working on

• AI answers that stream in and link back to their exact source.
• Review queues where people approve AI outputs.
• Document upload and correction flows.
• Dashboards on model performance.
• A design system and component library for the whole team.

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of frontend engineering on B2B or data-heavy web apps.
• Experience building data-heavy product UI: dashboards, data or graph visualisations, or real-time and streaming data views.
• You've built and owned a design system or component library, not just used one.
• Production React and TypeScript.
• A portfolio or live examples of UI you've shipped - please include a link with your application.

Nice to have

• Experience as an early frontend hire at a startup, building product UI from scratch.
• Full-stack experience and comfort building API endpoints when needed.
• Next.js, Tailwind, D3 and Figma, including AI design-to-code tools such as Figma MCP.

The package

• US$150K-200K base salary + meaningful equity (compensation is equity-heavy).
• Fully remote within the USA.

A few practical details

Applicants must be US citizens or green card holders; visa sponsorship is unavailable.

The interview process includes an initial screen, a technical review of your shipped work and design system experience, a CEO interview and a final team interview. Please note: although this role is fully remote, the interview process may include an in-person element.
