Anthropic is seeking a founding Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) Manager to build and scale the enterprise practice. You’ll hire, coach, and retain a world‑class team, set the technical and operational bar for customer engagements, and design playbooks that turn early wins into repeatable patterns.

The role blends leadership with hands‑on work: you’ll review architectures, guide production work, and partner with Sales, Product, and Engineering to shape strategy. Travel 25‑50% to client sites.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering or related experience.
• 2+ years of people management in a services/FDE organization.
• Experience building organizations from 0→1 and working with enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

• Hire, develop, and retain a world-class team of Forward Deployed Engineers.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, provide technical mentorship, and grow each team member.
• Staff and oversee customer engagements across your team’s portfolio.
• Collaborate with account teams during pre-sales to qualify engagements and scope work.
• Review architectures and code to ensure production-ready solutions.
• Stay hands-on to lead discovery sessions and prototype solutions when needed.
• Build repeatable playbooks, starter repositories, and templates.
• Define team OKRs tied to customer success and product adoption.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to translate field insights into product improvements.
• Travel to customer sites as needed (25–50%).
