Job summary

The American Dream Charter School in Manhattan is seeking an energetic High School ENL Teacher to join our founding team as we launch a new high school with 9th grade.

You will provide targeted language development for English Language Learners, collaborate with general and special education teachers, and help shape school culture and systems from day one, while supporting multilingual learners toward college readiness.

Qualifications

• Must hold New York State teaching certification.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish/English with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to use student data to plan and adjust instruction.
• Experience with ENL/IEP support and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted ENL instruction for varying English proficiency levels.
• Collaborate with general education and special education teachers to ensure access to 9th-grade coursework.
• Differentiate lessons and build instructional materials.
• Administer ELL assessments (WIDA) and monitor student progress.
• Engage families with progress updates and participate in conferences.
• Help establish school culture and start-up operations.
• Serve as a resource for best practices in multilingual learners.
