United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Founding Engineer in NYC to build AI-for-science tooling. This onsite, full-time role offers autonomy, high ownership, and the chance to influence the stack from agents to runtime.

You'll join a small, well-funded team and work directly with the founders across Python, Rust, and TypeScript, tackling hard, low-level systems and ML infrastructure to unlock experiments at scale.

We're working in the AI for science space, specifically at the point of experimental execution.Scientific labs run on expensive instruments locked behind proprietary software with no real API. Getting an agent to actually operate these machines is unsolved, and it's the bottleneck between "AI can design experiments" and "AI can run them." That's what we're building.

Small, technical, well-funded team with real design partners already pulling on us. You'd be one of the first engineers, working directly with the founders across the stack: agents, low-level systems, ML infra, and the runtime that ties it together. Lots of hard, unglamorous, high-leverage problems.

You might be a good fit if:

• You're a strong generalist who's shipped real systems and can go deep when needed

• You're comfortable in messy, low-level territory

• Bonus: ML/agents, scientific instrumentation, or industrial automation

• You want high ownership, high pace, onsite in NYC

We're mostly a Python/Rust/Typescript shop. We care about what you've built, not credentials.
