Job summary

ShiftRx, an early seed-stage startup in Austin, seeks a founding engineer to join a tight-knit team and shape the technical foundation of the company. You’ll be an individual contributor driving AI-enabled healthcare solutions with modern stacks including TypeScript, Python, and AWS.

You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, owning major components end-to-end, and collaborating closely with the founders and advisors who’ve built successful startups.

Qualifications

Yo, are you a cracked engineer looking to join a team of people that are highly delusional and passionate about what they’re building? Have you ever thought to yourself — “wow, I wish I could live all the bad parts of the TV show Silicon Valley”? Then do we have the role for YOU. We’re looking for a founding engineer to join our seed stage startup (we're funded!), and go boots on the ground.We’ve got a product, we’ve got customers, and we need some awesome engineers ready to take this to the next level.You’ll be provided with constant access to caffeine, since our landlords are the coffee shop next door. Our office is also a converted garage, conveniently located on South 1st in Austin. And as our new founding engineer, you’ll get the opportunity to shape the technical foundation of this company. Our founders are former healthcare providers, and know the space they’re operating in. We have fantastic advisors that have been operators at other unicorn startups, and a mortal kombat machine in office. You should definitely apply if:

• You have a passion for software engineering with at least 4 years of dev experience.
• We’d love to chat if you’ve got early-stage (Seed, Series A) startup experience
• You’re a talented engineer based in ATX or wanting to relocate to ATX to work with a small team of 10 on something super meaningful
• Startups excite you, you love to build and ship products quickly and constantly iterate on features, collaborating with all parts of the team on technical workflow, user journey, ways to improvement, and speed
• You’ve emphatic about being an IC
• You are passionate about and have built AI applications
• TypeScript, React, SQL, Terraform, Postgres, AWS are all in our tech stack currently, experience with these is a must or ability to level up our tech stack from these
• API experience with OpenAI, Stripe would be ideal
• You’re excited about building something that’s going to make a considerable difference in how we receive healthcare in the U.S. Everyone, at every point, has been frustrated with a doctors visit or picking up a prescription, and we’re looking to dramatically improve the lives of healthcare providers and reduce their burnout rates so patient-care can remain the #1 focus

Our dream candidate looks like:

• Have experience in developing production AI applications, utilizing prompt-engineering, RAG, and writing automated LLM evaluations
• Strong desire to be an early-hire at a fast-growing startup, and work IRL
• Experience writing typescript, python
• Familiarity with managing, deploying and scaling enterprise infrastructure
• Very strong critical thinking skills, ability to figure anything out
• Someone who’s proactive, has a passion to execute autonomously, and takes pride in their code
• Continuous learner, stays up to date on AI trends, and has had a multitude of side projects
