Job summary

Clera in New York is seeking a founding electrical engineer to own the full electrical and PCB design for a consumer wearable device. You will drive hardware from prototyping to production in a fast-moving hardware team.

Join a YC-backed startup delivering sensor-rich wearables. You will own end-to-end hardware development, collaborate across disciplines, and shape production-ready designs for rapid scale.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of hands-on PCB/board design and embedded hardware experience.
• Track record of shipping physical consumer electronics end-to-end.
• Strong background in sensor integration and consumer hardware development.
• Experience in fast-paced, resource-constrained hardware environments.
• Background in consumer electronics, wearables, or related hardware is a plus.

About the Role

This is a founding engineering role at a Y Combinator-backed wearable startup, where you'll own the full electrical and board design for a consumer wearable device. Sitting at the heart of a small, fast-moving hardware team, you'll be the person who takes the electronics from early prototype to production-ready hardware - a high-impact position with real ownership as the company scales.

What You'll Do

• Own end-to-end electrical and PCB/board design for the wearable device.
• Iterate rapidly through device revisions in response to testing, user feedback, and production requirements.
• Drive consumer hardware from working prototype through to mass production.

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in PCB/board design and embedded hardware.
• A track record of shipping physical consumer electronics products end-to-end.
• Strong background in sensor integration and consumer-grade hardware development.
• Experience working in fast-paced, resource-constrained hardware environments.
• Background from consumer electronics, wearables, or similar hardware-focused companies is a strong plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary of $150,000 USD annually , plus up to 1-2% equity as a founding team member. No new visa sponsorship - H-1B transfers are supported.

Location

On-site in New York, United States (San Francisco also considered). This is an in-person role.
