Job summary

Braintrust is seeking a founding Data Engineer in San Francisco to establish our data foundation, define core entities and metrics, and own end‑to‑end pipelines. You will shape the data platform, partner with executives, and build scalable ingestion from product events, CRM, and other sources while guiding governance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Define business entities, metrics, and semantics for cross‑team use
• Design and build core data models in SQL and dbt
• Own ingestion from product events, CRM, and other sources including APIs and webhooks
• Make architectural decisions for storage, orchestration, and transformation
• Stand up self‑serve analytics with semantic models and trusted metrics
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Finance, Sales, RevOps, and Marketing on data needs
• Ensure data governance, lineage, and reliability in the data platform
• Leverage AI to accelerate building the foundation while keeping it clean and well‑documented
