Job summary

Oath Technologies, an organization incubated by Convergent Research and based in Berkeley, CA, seeks a Chief of Staff to lead operations, hiring, budgeting, and vendor management in its formative stage.

The role will work closely with CEO Mike Dodds to grow the research team and design the organization, with potential evolution into Head of Operations or COO-type leadership as the team scales.

Qualifications

• Experience at an early-stage organization, ideally in a founding or organizational design role.
• Comfort operating across hiring, operations, finance, vendor management, and people management, with support from our fiscal sponsor, Convergent Research.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus.
• Helpful, but not required: HR/ People Operations experience; experience with research and/or engineering teams; knowledge of AI risks; broad enthusiasm for deeply technical topics.

Responsibilities

• Convergent Research liaison: Own coordination with Convergent Research and oversee FRO responsibilities.
• Operations and finance: Budget management, financial reporting, and building operational systems.
• Hiring and onboarding: Run Year 1+ hiring pipeline and design interview processes.
• People management: Evolve into People Ops as the team grows.
• Vendor and partner administration: Manage relationships with contractors, recruiters, and vendors.
• Board & stakeholder management: Prepare materials for boards and donor updates.
