Job summary

Great Hearts Academies in Lake Charles seeks a Founding Assistant Head of School to support the Head of School, lead day-to-day operations, and strengthen the school culture aligned with Great Hearts’ liberal arts philosophy.

You will work with families, students, and faculty to promote academic rigor, guided instruction, and community engagement while coordinating with the Lead Office for policy alignment and program development.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree at minimum.
• Experience: At least 2 years of prior teaching experience or equivalent experience in the field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a liberal arts institution or knowledge in the delivery of a Great Books core curriculum preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as an essential liaison for families, students, faculty and staff regarding student performance and conduct.
• Assist Head of School in planning and execution of teacher training, teacher in-service days, and faculty meetings.
• Observe, coach, and evaluate teachers as assigned by the Head of School.
• Assist Head of School in recruiting, tracking, and interviewing candidates, and offer hiring recommendations.
• Oversee planning for school events and develop key schedules and processes.
• Ensure safety and security by implementing policies and procedures per guidelines.
