Job summary

George Bernard Consulting is seeking a software engineer to build and scale the core tax preparation platform. You will own backend design, work on front-end integration, and shape the product's next major release.

Role involves creating OCR/LLM pipelines to read financial documents, turning feedback from accounting firms into dependable features, and collaborating directly with the CTO and Head of Engineering.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python; able to ship backend features end-to-end.
• Experience with TypeScript is a plus and a strong foundation for full-stack work.
• Hands-on with LLMs, prompt engineering, and evaluation.
• Experience building OCR/document parsing pipelines.
• Implement AI agent orchestration and integration patterns.
• Strong background in scalable backend architecture.
• Familiarity with cloud services and deployment patterns.

Responsibilities

• Build and grow the core platform for automated tax prep, owning backend design.
• Design backend systems and workflows for the product's next major release.
• Create and improve AI pipelines reading financial docs using OCR/LLMs.
• Make key backend design decisions independently with CTO/Head of Eng.
• Expand AI agents from tax prep to related accounting tasks like auditing.
