Planhat is seeking a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with customers and design data pipelines, workflows, and AI deployments that deliver measurable value. You will join early adopters of AI and help build the future with us, combining data engineering, systems design, and commercial operations to accelerate real outcomes.

You will learn rapidly and craft playbooks that scale, enabling AI that actually works in diverse customer environments.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in consulting, data engineering, software engineering, or similar technical roles.
• Comfort working directly with customers in ambiguous environments.
• Curiosity, ownership, and interest in building something new.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites.
• The ability to learn fast — this is the most important trait of all.
• Strong foundation in SQL and data modeling.
• Experience with Python and/or other scripting languages.
• Experience integrating with APIs (REST / GraphQL).
• Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL/ELT, or workflow automation is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Embed with customers to understand business and systems work.
• Engineer data pipelines, workflows, and automations that enable AI use cases.
• Work on AI deployment, data engineering, and commercial operations.
• Shape new practices and playbooks for Forward Deployment Engineering.
