Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California in San Diego is seeking a Foundations and Grants Manager to lead the grants program and secure annual and long‑term foundation support. You will manage all non‑government grant proposals, applications, and reports, aligning programs with funder interests and ensuring reporting requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or proven related field experience.
• 5 years’ experience in foundation relations, grant development, fundraising, nonprofit development, or related field.
• Demonstrated success securing foundation funding and managing foundation relationships.
• Strong organizational, writing, problem‑solving skills, including attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Identify program needs and prospective foundation funders; write strong grant proposals, applications and reports.
• Cultivate and steward Foundation relationships; communicate TSA funding priorities to funders.
• Advise Corps Officers and staff by aligning program needs with funders; review final proposals.
• Oversee execution of Foundations Department strategic plan.
• Attend conferences, training and Grantmaker meetings and workshops.
• Oversee and manage Foundations revenue; provide regular revenue reporting to Director.
• Increase grant writing capacity for Corps and programs in San Diego.
• Articulate TSA’s mission to donors in clear terms to align philanthropic interests.
• Collaborate with Divisional HQ and other departments to leverage funding opportunities.
• Research, write and track government grants for San Diego County.
• Other duties as assigned.
