Job summary

Save the Children US seeks an Officer, Philanthropy Communications to develop compelling donor content for foundation partnerships and big bet fundraising. You’ll craft proposals, reports, newsletters, and donor communications to support six-figure gifts.

In collaboration with fundraisers, program staff, and country offices, you’ll tailor messaging, manage projects, and lead creative assets across print and digital channels to advance priority initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with philanthropic strategy and communications, including direct donor engagement to secure funding for priority projects.
  • Creativity and innovative thinking working with communications colleagues on the creation of donor outreach to increase engagement and commitment.
  • Project management and organizational skills including detail orientation, with ability to oversee multiple deliverables, manage stakeholder groups with potentially different points of view and adapt to evolving priorities
  • A high level of integrity and work ethic including the ability to maintain professional demeanor in high pressure environments
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of communications projects and oversee creation and editing of content from staff to final products.
  • Interact regularly with fundraisers and program staff to understand projects and donor needs.
  • Support thought leadership opportunities with key donors and develop timely pieces (blog posts, op-eds) to position Save the Children as leaders in children’s rights and protection.
  • Stay current on the evolution of the foundation landscape and philanthropic trends, and align with program priorities.
  • Partner with fundraisers to ensure timely delivery of quality materials in formats to support engagement.
  • Collaborate on the creative and strategic use of resources (e.g., virtual donor roundtables) for donor engagement.
  • Develop digital communications directed at fundraising for high value donors, such as customized microsites and multimedia assets.
  • Design and develop pieces (newsletter, infographics, videos) and web content that enhance visibility of programs and partnerships.
  • Manage asset development with third-party vendors for video content and design projects.
