Job summary

HELP USA in New York, NY seeks a Chief Development and Communications Officer to lead fundraising, communications, marketing and external engagement. The role partners with the CEO and board to expand philanthropic support and elevate the organization's public profile.

You will build an integrated strategy, manage major gifts, foundations, corporate partnerships, and campaigns, and lead a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in development, advancement, communications, external affairs, public affairs, marketing, or related functions within a nonprofit or similarly complex mission-driven organization.
• Proven success leading comprehensive fundraising programs (major gifts, foundations, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, campaigns, events) with notable investments.
• Strategic advisor to CEOs, executive leadership teams, and boards on fundraising, communications, and growth.
• Integrated fundraising and communications strategies to strengthen revenue and visibility.
• Experience in media relations, digital engagement, and thought leadership initiatives.
• Strong relationship-building with donors, foundations, corporations, government leaders, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a multi-year development and communications strategy aligned with priorities and growth objectives.
• Lead all aspects of private fundraising, including major gifts, foundations, corporate partnerships, events, and campaigns.
• Represent HELP USA with donors, board members, public officials, media, and community partners.
• Oversee integrated communications, marketing, brand strategy, and external engagement.
• Lead a high-performing development and communications team; monitor performance and impact.
