Job summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking a social worker for the Fostering Support and Supervision Team based in Huntingdon. The role focuses on supporting foster carers, ensuring stable and nurturing homes for children and young people.

You will supervise, train, and collaborate with multi-agency partners while delivering high-quality assessments and safeguarding. The position offers a proactive wellbeing package and CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

• Be a qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England.
• Have experience of working with children and families and an understanding of fostering practice.
• Be able to travel independently across Cambridgeshire and work from a variety of locations.
• Be willing to deliver foster carer training and support groups, including occasional evening sessions.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional supervision, guidance, and support to foster carers to meet children's needs.
• Build positive relationships with foster families, children, birth families, and partner agencies.
• Undertake regular visits to fostering households and complete statutory assessments, reviews, and monitoring.
• Ensure children's voices are central to planning and decisions.
• Collaborate with education, health, and voluntary sector partners.
• Respond to safeguarding concerns and promote safe, nurturing environments.
