Job summary

Compass Connections in Texas is seeking a qualified foster care program specialist to ensure regulatory compliance and high‑quality support for children and families. You will oversee caseloads, train and supervise foster parents, and coordinate with Child Protective Services, judicial officials, medical professionals, and community resources to deliver compassionate, compliant services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field required.
• Master’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
• Two+ years of experience working with children with mental health or behavioral disabilities in a residential setting
• Two+ years of child placing experience
• Certifications include First aid, CPR, and Emergency behavior intervention.

Responsibilities

• Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
• Maintain a caseload in accordance with agency policies and contract standards.
• Train and evaluate foster parents to implement the agency behavior management model.
• Provide ongoing and regular face‑to‑face supervision of foster parents per program requirements.
• Maintain accurate foster care records.
• Intervene in crisis situations involving foster children or families.
• Provide pre‑service and in‑service training to foster parents as necessary.
• Prepare daily census and department reports as assigned.
• Maintain effective working relationships with foster parents, other agency staff, CPS staff, Department of Children’s Services, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals, and community resources.
• Participate in on‑call duties and responsibilities.
• Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and staff in case of an emergency.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
• Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct as per employee handbook including dress code.
• Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.
• Recruit and assess foster home applicants to verify agency foster home.
• Monitor verified foster homes for ongoing compliance with policies and standards.
• Frequent travel between locations.
• Meet deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners.

Other Responsibilities

• Recruit and assess foster home applicants to make a recommendation regarding verification as an agency foster home.
• Monitor verified foster homes for ongoing compliance with agency policies and procedure and state and federal standards.
• Frequently travel from one location to another.
• Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners.

Hiring Requirements

1. Pass a pre‑employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
2. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
3. Pass a pre‑employment and biennial criminal background checks.
4. Demonstrate the ability to:
   • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio‑economic characteristics.
   • Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, and professionals.
   • Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.
   • Work in a fast‑paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
   • Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
   • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
5. Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
