Job summary

Compass Connections in the United States seeks a dedicated foster care specialist to manage cases and support foster families. You will provide crisis intervention, regulations compliance, and ongoing training to foster parents while maintaining meticulous records and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

The role requires strong teamwork, confidentiality, and the ability to travel between locations as needed. A bachelor's in social work is required; a master's is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field is required.
• Master’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
• First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention certifications.
• Two+ years of experience with children with mental health or behavioral disabilities in residential setting.
• Two+ years of child placing experience.

Responsibilities

• Meet federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
• Maintain a caseload in accordance with agency policies and contract standards.
• Train and evaluate foster parents to implement the agency behavior management model.
• Provide ongoing face-to-face supervision of foster parents according to program requirements.
• Maintain accurate and current foster care records.
• Intervene in crisis situations involving foster children or families.
• Provide pre-service and in-service training to foster parents as necessary.
• Prepare daily census and department reports as assigned.
• Maintain relationships with foster parents, agency staff, and external partners.
• Participate in on-call duties and responsibilities.
• Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Implement Compass Connections safety protocols in emergencies.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of service population and operations.
• Uphold Compass Connections professional and ethical standards.
• Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.

Provide ongoing and regular face-to-face supervision of foster parents according to program requirements.5. Maintain accurate and current foster care records.6. Intervene in crisis situations involving foster children or families.7. Provide pre-service and in-service training to foster parents as necessary.8. Prepare daily census and department reports as assigned.9. Maintain effective working relationships between foster parents, other agency staff, Child Protective Services staff, Department of Children’s Services, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals, and other community resources.10. Participate in on-call duties and responsibilities.11. Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.12. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff, in case of an emergency.13. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.14. Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.15. Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.Other Responsibilities:1. Recruit and assess foster home applicants to make a recommendation regarding verification as an agency foster home.2. Monitor verified foster homes for on-going compliance with agency policies and procedure and state and federal standards.3. Frequently travel from one location to another.4. Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners.5. Foster Care Programs - Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.Requirements:1. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.2. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.3. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.4. Demonstrate the ability to:a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.b. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.c. Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.d. Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.e. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.f. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.5.
