Job summary

Bethany in Jenkintown, PA is looking for a full-time Therapist to join its Refugee & Immigrant Program. This role involves providing individual counseling, maintaining clinical documentation, and promoting trauma-informed care in alignment with the agency's mission.

The ideal candidate should have a Master’s degree in Social Work or related field, along with experience in therapeutic settings. Candidates with bilingual skills and experience with refugee communities are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field with clinical experience.
  • At least one year of counseling experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Prior experience with refugee populations is a plus.
  • Active Certification/License in Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

How Your Role Makes a Difference
  • Maintain an awareness of current trends and relevant evidence‑based practices to recommend changes in agency policy and practice to advance the use of appropriate clinical interventions and training.
  • Complete proper documentation and write reports, including clinical depth and breadth of service, and concrete clinical progress and goals.
  • Coordinate outside professional consultations when needed while ensuring documentation for consultations is completed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide individual counseling sessions based on caseload and/or coverage needs utilizing the trauma model chosen for the respective program.
  • Attend meetings with treatment team on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services.
  • Stay up‑to‑date on treatment modalities, while also completing and coordinating trainings as required by funding sources by attending conferences, seminars and journal reading.
  • Implement and promote service delivery through a trauma‑responsive lens consistent with the Sanctuary Model of Care.
  • Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department.
  • May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany sponsored event.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
What Will Make You Successful
  • Master’s degree in Social Work with clinical experience in the program, or Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, or other relevant behavioral science in which direct clinical experience is a program requirement from an accredited college.
  • At least one or preferably two years of post‑educational counseling experience.
  • Bi‑lingual in English and Spanish, strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience within a therapeutic setting while utilizing interpreters.
  • Prior experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations.
  • Prior experience with co‑occurring disorder treatment, strongly preferred.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and methodology of social work as acquired through a Master’s level degree.
  • Active Certification/License in the state of the work location.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical, therapeutic, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Must have an ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality.
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany.
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage.
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
